Clinics include: Garfield County Free Legal Clinics Contact: (970) 945-8858 Description: Free 15-minute consultations with volunteer lawyers on legal issues related to family and children`s issues, housing, bankruptcy, consumer issues, etc. For low-income residents. No consultations for traffic or criminal matters. Many people who work in Pitkin/Aspen County but live in the valley use this service. Spanish translator available. Pro Se Divorce Clinic Contact: (970) 945-8858 Description: This clinic is an overview of a simple divorce process. Volunteer lawyers inform about the submission without hiring a lawyer. The clinic is informative. It covers procedures and forms. Recommended donation: $50 per person; $75 per pair. No one turned away for lack of money.

Pro bono lawyers provide information on filing a divorce without the help of a lawyer and cover divorce proceedings and forms, custody, child support, alimony and division of property. Participants must bring forms to the clinics (available from the court, on the court`s website – click here or at Bradford Publishing). This clinic is informative only and questions are welcome, but answers are usually limited to the options that individuals should consider. The clerkship office also awards prizes to the best students in the public sector and the judiciary.
