Family and Immigration Education – The mission of the Family and Immigration Team is to protect the safety of our client community. CCLS protects victims of domestic violence and their children, as well as the elderly and/or dependent adults, from physical, mental, emotional and financial exploitation by preparing and filing injunctions with the court.
Victims can attend their hearings and receive permanent injunctions. CCLS also helps Fresno County residents obtain curatorship letters through a monthly clinic. CCLS is also able to assist victims of certain crimes in applying for and approving U visas and/or beaten spouses or children of lawful U.S. citizens/permanent residents through the work of two accredited representatives of the Immigration Appeals Board. First, these applicants receive a work permit while meeting certain residency criteria, and finally, with the help of CCLS, they receive Legal Permanent Residence (LPR) status. In this process, these people will be empowered to move from undocumented to legal status and will be able to live and work in the United States without worries. My son had an annual lease with his landlord that ended in September 2021. We assume that my son has automatically had a monthly contract since September, as my son has not received an annual lease or has not signed a new annual lease as the landlord is trying to sell the house. My son just received a notice from the landlord that the rent is increasing by $100. Is it legal?
