Dastageer Legal Aid Centre Karachi

LAS interventions are based on listening to the voices of the weak and destitute within the legal system and combining their needs with the values of justice, equity and inclusion to change the way the organization and justice system see and address current challenges to achieve justice in our society. Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid is a man who has been committed to defending legal rights over the past 16 years after leaving the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 2000. He was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Sindh from 1992 to 1994 and was appointed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1996. The organization takes a two-pronged approach to the broader context of access to justice in Pakistan. The first aspect of programming is to provide direct support on a case-by-case basis and on an individual basis through legal representation; Similar to filling gaps in the provision of legal aid. The second aspect of programming aims to repair the system through the Legal Empowerment approach, which aims to expand common users` knowledge of the law in order to bring more access and change within the surrounding legal ecosystem. Guddi, 17, lived in the village of Hari Camp Majnoon Chand District Hyderabad. He belongs to the minority community of the Koolhi caste. His parents were illiterate and peasants who lived respectablely in the village. Unfortunately, Guddi was abducted by the owner.

Guddi`s parents were terribly upset and appalled by this act of the owner. Soon, they came to the LRF-Dastageer Hyderabad legal aid center and shared the incident with the girl and sought legal assistance. The LRF-DLAC panel of lawyers received free legal assistance and registered the case in the High Court, Hyderabad Bench. After that, the Honourable Supreme Court transmitted the protection order for Guddi and his family to the S.H.O. and ordered the FIR to be filed against the author. LRF-DLAC has successfully achieved its objectives by providing the necessary protection and legal support to the victim and his family.
