Eugene Renard Legal Aid

I have the privilege of working with experienced members of the New South Wales Advocacy Association who train me in criminal, family, civil litigation and compensation. Leo Cussen has been instrumental in getting me to where I am now, and without this hands-on legal training, I wouldn`t have entered the profession with such confidence. I continue to keep in touch with my colleagues and friends from the course and I like to look back on my time there. What I appreciate most about being a lawyer is the unique ability we have, as professionals, to help people through the crisis times of their lives, to support them in the legal system and to represent them in court. I particularly liked the civil procedure, criminal law, administrative law and advocacy components of the course. As a participant in the advocacy programme, I received the Lexis Nexis Award for Outstanding Advocacy, which was a surprise and a real boost of confidence when it came to making my first mentions and pleas in the District Court of New South Wales. University of Wollongong 2015 – 2016 Master. Criminal practice (laws). Average Price Leo Cussen Center for Law 2012 – 2012 Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.

Law I completed my articling at the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, where I continued to volunteer until I got my current role. Mid North Coast Community Legal Centre Feb 2015 – Oct 20159 Month – Oct 2015 Lawyer I am training to become a migration officer this year and am mainly active in criminal law, family law and civil procedure. I would like to recommend aspiring young lawyers to look beyond the confines of urban and suburban law firms and consider rural and regional opportunities – the quality of life in these regions is of a very high standard and the level of training and opportunities for young lawyers is extremely good. Working in a smaller regional firm requires young lawyers to jump in immediately and take on a lot of responsibility for a variety of issues. Leo Cussen prepared me well to face this level of commitment and responsibility. During my first year of practice, I worked on several Supreme Court cases, district court decisions and appellate cases and district court hearings. I now work for Walker Legal and Conveyancing in Taree, New South Wales, in the Manning Valley, which has a population of about 47,000. I live in Port Macquarie and I go to the office where I work with two other practitioners, my Director John Walker and Mishi Yarovy, a certified family law specialist.
