Tn Legal Studies Department

The Directorate of Legal Studies is the leading legal institution that has brought about decisive changes in the development of legal education in the state of Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1953 with the dual purpose of managing law schools and improving the level of legal education in the state of Tamil Nadu by establishing new policies and rules. The establishment of this department paved the way for advanced legal education for poor and oppressed people in the state of Tamil Nadu. With the continued support of the Government of Tamil Nadu, the judiciary, the Bar Council of India, the University Scholarships Commission and the Tamil Nadu Bar Council, the Department has been able to reach new heights in terms of qualitative and quantitative legal education in the state. Overall, the scenario on the Government Law College campus is completely different from the old days, and our mission is to make good law students who, with the help of dedicated faculty, are suitable for any event of legal significance. Law students are always socially vigilant and always strive to improve society. In this context, they often participate in strikes, which can also end in violence, but recently they have become aware of their responsibility towards their homeland, society and themselves and now they have confidence in peace and solve their problems through negotiation. Thus, strikes have been scaled down overall and they have begun to focus on studies, and the ministry is also largely focused on improving the quality of legal education. You have the option to customize this degree with law courses in an area related to your field of work or study. You can tailor your degree to your particular interests. In order to encourage students to develop a social consciousness and distract them from their monotonous studies, law school campuses today have begun to celebrate many types of functions such as pongal and other cultural functions, such as Women`s Day, etc., on campus itself, among other social awareness functions in the form of lectures.

Symposia, workshops and gatherings, etc., which pleasantly surprises society to know that law students are involved in such activities that become incredible for them. Both programs are designed for practicing professionals and graduate students whose areas of expertise straddle law and who would benefit from a law degree but do not want to pursue JD examples include human resources professionals, paralegals, compliance officers, college administrators, cybersecurity experts, judicial social workers, police and business people. Do you want to influence the world around you? All who serve in the legal system share a common mission: to serve, protect and effect positive change. The Master of Legal Studies and Graduate Certificate in Legal Studies are designed for professionals and doctoral students whose areas of expertise overlap with law and who would benefit from a law degree, but not the J.D. The MLS program consists of 30 credits. The graduate certificate consists of 15 credits. In general, the graduate certificate is for people who would benefit from law school, but who do not think they need the depth of study provided by MLS. A career in law or criminal justice gives you the opportunity to help people from all walks of life assert their rights. With a career in criminal justice, you will focus on criminal behaviour and the reasons behind it. Or if you work in law, focus on the law and how it is applied. All law schools now strictly adhere to the standards of clinical legal education, in which students are systematically bound to the court with a special dress code that increases their confidence in the practice of any work in the field of law. They are trained for a period of one month at the bar and systematically observe the lawyer`s client in his relations with the lawyer in addition to his willingness to represent his case in court.

Final year students are trained to act as a lawyer throughout their studies by participating in the mock trial. To this end, all colleges have typical new courtrooms that are declared mock courtrooms to promote a student`s skills, which helps each student distinguish themselves as a good lawyer. In addition, as part of their clinical legal training, students effectively visit ADR forums with the goal of aligning them with ADR and minimizing the explosion in court.
